Linen Lace Floral Embroidered Cylinder Basket — Soft Living Collection
"Most storage baskets are plain — a container, nothing more. This one is different. Lace spills over the rim like a handkerchief. Vintage flowers climb the linen in deep green, rust, and navy. A leather belt with a brass buckle cinches the waist. Geometric medallions anchor the base. It is not just a basket. It is a piece of textile art — something beautiful that also holds your things."
— The FrissGonv Workshop
A cylinder of linen,
adorned like a heirloom.
This basket began as a simple cylinder of high-density European linen — oat-colored, woven tight, with the natural slub texture that makes linen feel alive. But a plain cylinder was not enough. We wanted something that felt like a heirloom — a piece you would inherit from a grandmother, something with layers of detail, something that told a story. So we adorned it, top to bottom, with the kind of craftsmanship you rarely see in home storage.
At the rim, a wide band of cream lace spills over the edge — not a simple trim, but a complex floral lace with petals, scrolls, and openwork netting, folded over the rim like a handkerchief tucked into a pocket. The lace is soft and translucent, catching the light, framing the opening like the collar of a vintage blouse. It is the first thing you notice, and it sets the tone for everything below.
Around the upper body, a band of vintage floral embroidery wraps the cylinder — large, full flowers in deep forest green, rust red, and navy blue, with cream-colored stamens at their centers. The flowers are connected by cream-colored vines and leaves, winding between them like a garden trellis. Smaller accent flowers in navy and rust dot the spaces between, adding rhythm and depth. Each petal is stitched with multiple shades of floss, creating dimension and richness — the kind of embroidery you would find on a vintage Hungarian or Ukrainian textile, not a mass-produced home accessory.
At the waist, a supple brown leather belt cinches the cylinder — complete with adjustment holes, a leather keeper, and a solid brass buckle, just like a fine belt. It is not just decorative; it gives the basket structure, defining the silhouette, adding a touch of tailored precision to the soft linen above and below. The brass buckle glows warmly, echoing the golden stamens in the embroidered flowers.
Below the belt, large geometric medallions are embroidered in matching oat-colored floss — circular patterns with intricate inner geometry, like traditional decorative motifs, tone-on-tone, subtle but sophisticated. They anchor the base, balancing the colorful flowers above with quiet, structured pattern below. The result is a basket that feels like a collected piece — lace from one era, florals from another, leather and brass from another, all brought together in a single cylinder of linen.
Seven Stages to a Heirloom
From a plain cylinder of linen to a piece of textile art.
Linen Selection
High-density European linen is selected for its tight weave and natural slub texture. Only oat-colored fabric with consistent fiber distribution is used — the weave must be tight enough to hold a cylinder shape, soft enough to drape naturally at the rim.
Cylinder Construction
The linen panel is sewn into a cylinder, with a flat circular base attached. The seams are flat-felled for strength and a clean finish. The base is reinforced with a double row of stitching so the basket stands upright and holds its shape.
Vintage Floral Embroidery
Large full flowers are embroidered around the upper body in deep forest green, rust red, and navy blue, with cream stamens at their centers. Each petal uses multiple shades of floss for dimension. Cream vines and leaves connect the flowers, with smaller accent flowers dotting the spaces.
Geometric Medallion Embroidery
Large circular geometric medallions are embroidered below the waist in matching oat-colored floss — tone-on-tone, subtle but sophisticated. Each medallion contains intricate inner geometry, like traditional decorative motifs, anchoring the base and balancing the colorful flowers above.
Lace Rim
A wide band of complex cream floral lace — with petals, scrolls, and openwork netting — is attached to the rim and folded over, like a handkerchief tucked into a pocket. The lace is pinned and stitched by hand so it falls in soft, even folds around the entire opening.
Leather Belt & Brass Buckle
A supple brown leather belt is fitted around the waist — complete with adjustment holes, a leather keeper, and a solid brass buckle. The leather is full-grain cowhide, edge-painted and stitched with light-colored thread. The buckle is polished to a warm antique glow.
Final Inspection
The finished basket is inspected — embroidery must be flawless, lace must fall evenly, the belt must fit snugly, the medallions must be aligned. Only then does it leave the workshop — ready to become a heirloom in someone's home.
Linen, Lace, Leather.
Brass & Cotton Floss.
High-Density Weave · Vintage Floral Embroidery · Cream Lace · Full-Grain Leather · Antique Brass
The linen is woven in Europe from long-staple flax fibers — the same grade used for high-end table linens and men's summer suiting. The weave is tight enough to hold a cylinder shape, but retains the natural slub texture that makes linen feel alive. It softens with use, developing a richer patina over time, like a favorite shirt that gets better with every wear.
The lace is a complex cotton blend — soft, translucent, with intricate floral openwork. The embroidery is cotton floss in four colors — forest green, rust red, navy, and cream — each flower using multiple shades for dimension. The leather is full-grain cowhide, supple and strong, that will develop a rich patina. The buckle is solid brass, polished to an antique glow. Every material is chosen to age beautifully — to look better in five years than it does today.

Keep It Like a Heirloom
Linen, lace, leather, and brass all age beautifully. Treat them well and this basket will look richer in five years than it does today — a true heirloom that grows more beautiful with time.
Spot Clean
Damp cloth for linen stains. Do not machine wash — the lace, embroidery, and leather belt are delicate. Blot, do not rub. Avoid getting the leather belt wet.
Lace Care
The cream lace is delicate. Avoid pulling or snagging. If a thread comes loose, trim it carefully with small scissors — do not pull. The lace will soften slightly with age, adding character.
Leather & Brass
Condition the leather belt every few months. The brass buckle will develop a warm patina over time. If you prefer a brighter shine, polish gently with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals near the linen or lace.
Embrace the Patina
Linen softens. Lace mellows. Leather darkens. Brass warms. The embroidery colors will fade slightly with sunlight, adding vintage character. Every material in this basket is chosen to age beautifully — to become a true heirloom.
Most baskets hold your things and look plain doing it.

vintage flowers, and a leather belt with a brass buckle.
