Less, but
better.

"In a world of over-designed storage, sometimes the most beautiful thing is simplicity. This pouch has no embroidery, no print, no lace — just pure oat-colored linen, a supple leather cord, and two brass tips. It is quiet. It is refined. It is the kind of object that gets better with every use, developing a patina that tells your story. Less, but better."

— The FrissGonv Workshop

The Story

A pouch stripped to
its essentials.

We believe that not every piece needs to shout. In a collection filled with embroidered vines, printed diamonds, and lace-trimmed cylinders, we wanted one piece that was quiet — a pouch that relied not on decoration, but on the quality of its materials and the precision of its construction. This is that piece. It is the simplest thing we make, and in many ways the most difficult — because when you remove all the decoration, every flaw becomes visible. Every stitch. Every fold. Every texture. So we made sure there were no flaws.

The body is a single cylinder of high-density European linen — oat-colored, woven tight, with the natural slub texture that makes linen feel alive. There is no print, no embroidery, no dye pattern. Just the pure, unadorned beauty of the fiber itself. The linen is thick enough to hold its shape, soft enough to drape naturally when the cord is loosened. It is the kind of fabric that gets better with every touch — softening, developing a richer texture, becoming more yours with each use.

The closure is a double cord of supple brown leather — two parallel strands that thread through the rim, pulling the linen into soft, even gathers when tightened. The leather is full-grain cowhide, edge-painted and smooth, with a subtle sheen that deepens with age. It is the same leather we use on our more decorated pieces, but here it is the star — a warm, tactile contrast to the cool linen.

At the end of each cord, a cylindrical brass tip — two-tiered, weighted, polished to a warm glow. The tips are not just decorative; they give the cord weight, so it hangs with quiet elegance, never tangling, never flopping. They are the only metal on the entire piece, and they are perfect — a small, precise detail that elevates the whole. The base is flat, reinforced with a double row of stitching, so the pouch stands upright on any surface. Open it, and it holds your jewelry, your toiletries, your stationery, your small essentials. Close it, and it becomes a quiet, refined object — something beautiful in its simplicity.

The Craft

Six Stages to Simplicity

From a flat panel of linen to a pouch stripped to its essentials.

01

Linen Selection

High-density European linen is selected for its tight weave and natural slub texture. Only oat-colored fabric with consistent fiber distribution is used. Because there is no decoration to hide behind, the linen itself must be flawless — every thread, every weave, every texture.

02

Cylinder Construction

The linen panel is sewn into a cylinder, with a flat circular base attached. The seams are flat-felled for strength and a clean finish. The base is reinforced with a double row of stitching so the pouch stands upright and holds its shape on any surface.

03

Rim Channel

A channel is sewn around the rim — a narrow tunnel through which the leather cord will thread. The channel must be even and precise, so the cord slides smoothly and the gathers are uniform when tightened. Every stitch is visible — there is nowhere to hide.

04

Leather Cord

A double cord of supple full-grain brown leather is cut to length, edge-painted, and threaded through the rim channel. The leather is smooth and strong, with a subtle sheen that deepens with age. Two parallel strands give the cord substance and weight.

05

Brass Tips

Each cord end is finished with a cylindrical brass tip — two-tiered, weighted, polished to a warm antique glow. The tips are crimped and secured so they never come loose. They give the cord weight, so it hangs with quiet elegance — never tangling, never flopping.

06

Final Inspection

The finished pouch is inspected — linen must be flawless, stitching must be even, the cord must slide smoothly, the brass tips must be secure. Because there is no decoration, every detail matters. Only then does it leave the workshop — a quiet, refined object, perfect in its simplicity.

The Material

Pure Linen.
Leather & Brass.

High-Density Weave · Full-Grain Leather · Solid Brass · No Decoration

The linen is woven in Europe from long-staple flax fibers — the same grade used for high-end table linens and men's summer suiting. Because there is no print or embroidery to distract, the quality of the linen itself is everything. The weave is tight enough to hold a cylinder shape, but retains the natural slub texture that makes linen feel alive. It softens with use, developing a richer patina over time, like a favorite shirt that gets better with every wear.

The leather is full-grain cowhide — supple, strong, edge-painted, with a subtle sheen that deepens with age. The brass tips are solid metal, polished to a warm antique glow that warms over time. There is no plastic, no synthetic, no shortcut — just three natural materials, each chosen for its ability to age beautifully. This pouch will look better in five years than it does today. That is the point of simplicity.

Keep It Simple

Linen, leather, and brass all age beautifully. Treat them well and this pouch will look richer in five years than it does today — a quiet object that tells your story through its patina.

✦

Spot Clean

Damp cloth for linen stains. Do not machine wash — the leather cord and brass tips are not meant for water. Blot, do not rub. Because the linen is unadorned, any stain will be visible — treat it quickly.

✦

Leather Care

Condition the leather cord every few months with a small amount of leather conditioner. It will darken and soften with use — this is patina, not wear. The more you handle it, the more beautiful it becomes.

✦

Brass Polish

The brass tips will develop a warm patina over time. If you prefer a brighter shine, polish gently with a soft cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals near the linen or leather. The antique finish is intentional — let it age.

✦

Embrace the Patina

Linen softens. Leather darkens. Brass warms. Because there is no decoration, the patina becomes the decoration — every crease, every fade, every softening tells your story. This pouch is meant to be used, not displayed. Use it well.

Most pouches are covered in decoration to hide their flaws.

This one has nothing to hide.

Not every pouch is stripped to its essentials —
pure linen, leather cord, and brass tips.
